Councilman Martín González reported this week that Mayor Diego Costarelli is supporting the promotion of Darío Falcone, who is under investigation for possible illicit enrichment. According to González, Falcone will take over the position of Secretary of Public Works and Public Services, leaving behind his role as Director of Private Works.
In a video posted on his social media, Martín González pointed out that Falcone cannot justify his assets with his income, according to the accounting expert reports conducted. The councilman expressed his concern about Falcone's rise, who is under judicial investigation for tax evasion and tax crimes.
The councilman highlighted that the Justice has decided to forward all the documentation collected in the case to the competent tax authorities, due to the suspicion of possible commission of tax crimes by Falcone. The revelation of Falcone's assets by a local media outlet in June 2022 triggered the judicial complaint that continues to this day.
"An official who is under investigation by the justice for tax evasion and tax crimes was rewarded by Diego Costarelli's management, who promoted him," stated González. The councilman urged reflection on the decision to promote someone under investigation for tax crimes to a position of greater responsibility in local government.
